Clean IPC

Stop the SAP

Stop the SAP system by executing following UNIX command:

stopsap allwiki sap cleaning resources

Clean SAP related processes

Find all processes running under adm user. Example of UNIX command:

ps -ef | grep yrdadmwiki sap cleaning resources

Kill all processes related to sap server. In above example it is the only one (red marked) process. Other processes are related to my putty session or to print server (lp user). Example of UNIX command:

kill 14583

Clean IPC memory

SAP provides “cleanipc” executable that is designed to clean SAP related entries from IPC. Syntax is “cleanipc <SNR> remove”. Example of UNIX command:

cleanipc 12 removewiki sap cleaning resources

UNIX commands

In case when cleanipc is not working properly you can use standard tools to display/remove ipc entries.

Display shared memory entries

Example of UNIX command:

ipcs -ma | grep yrdadmwiki sap cleaning resources

Remove shared memory entries

Entries can be removed only when there are no attached process (NATTCH = 0). Example of UNIX command:

ipcrm -m 0000000wiki sap cleaning resources

Display semaphore entries

Example of UNIX command:

ipcs -s | grep yrdadmwiki sap cleaning resources

Remove semaphore entries

Example of UNIX command:

ipcrm -s 0000000wiki sap cleaning resources
